Q: Who do I contact if my child is going to be late or absent?

A: Call the main office at 202-399-4750. Please provide a valid written excuse note to the main office within three days of the tardy or absence.

Q: Who do I contact with questions about enrollment?

A: Visit our admissions page to learn more or call the main office at 202-399-4750 and ask for registration and enrollment. 

Q: Who do I contact to find out if school or school events are cancelled because of weather or another reason?

A: Call the main office at 202-399-4750. An automated call will go out to all families concerning school closings.

Q: Who do I contact to discuss my child’s medical issues?

A: Call Nurse Alia at 202-399-4750, extension 203.

Q: Who do I contact if my child needs academic help or career counseling?

Q: What are the best transportation options for getting to IDEA?

A: IDEA provides a free safe passage shuttle bus that makes several stops in the community in the morning and afternoon. The Deanwood Metro station is on the orange line, located two blocks from the school. The bus route that comes nearest to the school is U4 and drops students off half a block from the school. The DC Department of Transportation provides reduced bus and rail fare for students to go to and from school. Students must use the SmartTrip cards provided to them.
