Mr. Tummings believes that growth is personal. Mr. Tummings began his academic career by earning a high school diploma in Del City, Oklahoma. He later earned his bachelor's degree in Economics from Fort Valley State University. Then Mr. Tummings earned a master's degree in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction.
Mr. Tummings’ career growth spurt occurred after he finished his first three years at IDEA and sought to improve his practice for IDEA's scholars. He struggled with cultural barriers and racial equities. However, with determination and hard work, he began to find ways to overcome those difficulties. His past has shaped his present advancement as he persevered through the challenges of leading through a pandemic.
