Dual Enrollment

IDEA offers scholars the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. Through dual enrollment programs, IDEA scholars can attend summer classes at the University of the District of Columbia and/or attend classes in the fall at a number of colleges and universities. IDEA scholars who are rising 10th, 11th, or 12th graders with at least a 2.5 GPA can enroll.

Summer Program
UDC-CC’s College Access and Readiness for Everyone (CARE) Dual Enrollment Summer Program is an undergraduate program that allows DC high school students to earn college credits at no cost. Students experience what it is like to take college classes and be on campus and also receive support services to successfully make the transition from high school to college.

Fall Program
The OSSE Dual Enrollment Consortium Program allows IDEA scholars to enroll in approved college courses at a college or university and potentially earn college and/or high school credit. Taking classes through dual enrollment gives scholars a preview of what is expected of them in a college class and an understanding of what they need to do in order to succeed in college.
