IDEA families will soon receive their students' scores from the PARCC assessments we took last school year. After 20 years serving students and families in the District of Columbia, we are excited to announce that our school continues to move in the right direction academically, as IDEA remains the number one high school in Ward 7.
“Our PARCC achievement scores highlight that IDEA scholars continue to outperform Ward 7 schools in the District. IDEA is committed to raising the bar to lower the non-proficiency gaps that still exist in math and English," said Principal Nicole McCrae. "Our scholars have the determination and the skill set to showcase growth across proficiency levels. Our incredible instructors have been working tremendously hard to adopt an aggressive academic rigor that is truly paying off, especially in math. While that is good news, we must stay the course and continue investing in all of our scholars, to ensure that they are career and college ready."
Among the top achievements are:
- 41% of our scholars approached or met proficiency expectations in math
- More than 11% of scholars in English and math classify as career and college ready in their sophomore year
- Students with disabilities increased performance both in English and math from 2017
Assessment scores are a tool for teachers, families, and scholars to use as a measure of what the child is actually mastering and how IDEA and our scholars and families can work together to meet scholars’ challenges and help them succeed.
This is the 11th consecutive year public charter school students have shown steady improvement on the citywide assessment, first on the DC-CAS and more recently, the PARCC.
