AIA Architects Discuss Entering the Profession with ACAD Scholars

ACAD's architecture classes welcomed Douglas Crawford and Alison Pavilonis from the Emerging Architects Committee of the American Institute of Architects DC Chapter on May 30.

Scholars enjoyed the presentation and, according to architecture teacher Sharonda Jones, "appreciated the real-life connections as well as the presenters' honesty that 'not every project will be a skyscraper' and that sometimes the largest project you might work on could very well be a parking garage."

Crawford and Pavilonis shared with scholars that a love of math and science is not required to enter into the field of architecture, but that future architects must possess a desire to solve problems with creativity, ingenuity, and reasoning.
