ACAD's Tiny House to Serve as Demonstration Project in Vacant to Vibrant Program

Last year the DC Department of Housing and Community Development launched its Vacant to Vibrant program, an initiative to transform empty lots and unused property into workforce housing, green space, and other projects to benefit the community. One such project is the Academy of Construction and Design's tiny house, which will be on display in a vacant lot on 50th Street NE.

The Minim tiny house demonstration will be action 5 in DC Mayor Muriel Bowser's Five-Point Action Plan, "Action 5—Seeing a Tiny House in Action: One site will house a tiny home demonstration and community education project in partnership with the DC Students Construction Trades Foundation, featuring the Minim House built by students in the Academy of Construction and Design at IDEA Public Charter School in Northeast DC."

Stay tuned for more details about when and where you can explore the tiny house and learn more about how it works!
