IDEA's Child Development Associate (CDA) interns completed some of their practicum hours at School Without Walls in December. The scholars participating in last semester's internship are:
- Desteny Cole 11th Grade (Preschool CDA Interest)
- A'liya Titus 11th Grade (Infant & Toddler CDA Interest)
- J'la Williams 11th Grade (Infant & Toddler CDA Interest)
During their practicum hours, which began in October, they worked with the Aftercare program, Capital Language Services, at the School Without Walls at Francis Stevens in Georgetown. They really enjoyed earning their service-learning experiences and interacting with PreK3 and 4 children.
CDA interns are currently studying the importance of establishing a safe, healthy, and learning environment while working in a childcare setting. Their focus in the fall semester was to become familiar with Competency Standards I & 2 for infant-preschool settings. They have begun to work on their CDA portfolios, as well as obtaining their 120 subject hours.
