Just a few days after graduating from IDEA, six young men will also graduate from the IEC Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship program they began in February, becoming full apprentices on their way to great careers. IEC Chesapeake member companies will take on the graduates for full four-year apprenticeships in electrical work. Power Design has hired Jaysun Smith and Greg Tutson. Helix Electric will employ William Ellerbe, Brandon Griggs, and Marquice Goldsberry. Deontae Roach's apprenticeship employer is pending.
Starting this fall, the apprentices will attend classes one evening each week while receiving on the job training during the day. Apprentices will earn between $17- $20 per hour with guaranteed regular wage increases throughout the apprenticeship, as well as full benefits. At the end of four yeas, they'll earn their electrician's licenses.
Congratulations to our newest apprentices!
