Ms. Nancy was an experienced and beloved member of our food services team, having served with the team since August 2013. Ms. Nancy was known by all to be a caring and generous person—always smiling and asking how everyone was doing.
Staff and students have been weighing in all week about Ms. Nancy's loving spirit, how she uplifted us with her energy when we arrived in the mornings, and how she checked on those of us who had long commutes or different diets. Ms. Nancy made sure we ate even on the busiest days, and held plates for us in the kitchen if she had to. After the pandemic struck, Ms. Nancy worked every day to make sure students and families had meals and produce bags, preparing and packaging meals, distributing produce bags, and greeting families at the door with warmth and concern when they came to pick up their food. She was truly a front line worker to ensure that IDEA scholars had the best meals daily, even in the midst of a national health crisis. That is how kind, caring and diligent she was about the well being of others.
In the same way she was supportive, Ms. Nancy was also entertaining. She loved to shake a leg on the dance floor, to try new foods and recipes, and to occasionally try her luck at the casino. Most importantly, Ms. Bell was utterly devoted to her family. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Ms. Nancy’s two sons, her daughter, her grandchildren, her significant other, and all of her family. We will forever treasure and miss our beloved Ms. Nancy.
