IDEA is the most improved high school in the District on the city’s 2019 School Report Card, released recently by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). IDEA gained over 15 points on the DC School Report Card, which collects and analyzes hundreds of data points about every DC school, earning the school our first three-star rating on OSSE’s School Transparency and Reporting (STAR) Framework.
IDEA’s dedicated teachers and staff, consistent use of data to inform our teaching practices, innovative hands on career and technical programs, and strong support of scholars’ social-emotional learning resulted in this extraordinary growth. Our four-year graduation rate also increased by roughly 25 percentage points last year. And for five consecutive years, 100% of our graduates are accepted to college.
This promising school report card comes on the heels of IDEA’s Bold Performance award from EmpowerK12, which recognizes schools that effectively educate a high percentage of at-risk students, exceeding academic expectations while providing intensive intervention and support services to meet students’ needs.
The DC School Report Card is designed to create “a more transparent, equitable DC education system, with students at the center of critical decision-making,” according to OSSE. Learn more at https://dcschoolreportcard.org/.
