Winners from IDEA's school science fair recently went on to compete at the DC STEM Fair, held March 16 at the University of the District of Columbia. Several IDEA projects earned awards.
In the Behavior and Social Science category, Francisco San Roman Alvarez earned second place for his project exploring whether grade level in high school affects self-esteem.
In the Chemistry category, the team of Alisa Gibbs, Kajah Watkins, and Kinnidy Williams earned second place for their project on investigating the possible relationship between chemicals in hair care products marketed to African-American women with rates of breast cancer.
In the Plant Science category, Michael Artemus won third place for his project "To Germany or to Humidify." Michael also received a special category award, honorable mention for statistical analysis, and was a grand award finalist.
