Ms. Casey started her educational journey by obtaining her high school diploma from Holly Hill Roberts High School in Holly Hill, South Carolina. After graduating from the University of South Carolina Upstate with a bachelor's degree in experimental psychology, Ms. Casey traveled to Washington, DC to attend Howard University. Attending Howard strengthened Ms. Casey’s love for empowering children and families. Upon graduating with her master's degree in social work and obtaining her social work license, Ms. Casey decided to stay in the DMV area working as a family consultant in the foster care system.
Wanting to have a greater influence on the daily lives of children, Ms. Casey transitioned from a career in foster care to the school setting. Ms. Casey spent several years as a school social worker in private, residential, and public school settings, ensuring that all students who she came in contact with felt a sense of pride in themselves and used their voices to influence change in their classrooms.
In March 2017, Ms. Casey established a nonprofit organization, The Casey Lee Foundation, Inc., as a way to remain connected to her southern roots and encourage students from her hometown to pursue educational opportunities past high school.
Ms. Casey’s favorite quotes:
