Mrs. McCrae believes that growth is inevitable. Mrs. McCrae began her academic career by earning her high school diploma from Meade Senior High in Ft. Meade, Maryland in 2002. She later earned her bachelor's degree in speech communication, with a French concentration from Morgan State University in 2006. Her career growth spurt occurred after she finished her year abroad in La Chatre, France and sought to improve education in the District of Columbia. She struggled with language and cultural barriers. However, with determination and faith, she overcame the challenge of the immersion. She later obtained a master's degree in teaching from American University and advanced in post-graduate leadership studies.
Mrs. McCrae’s favorite quote about growth is:
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” - Maya Angelou
