What Kyra Terrell enjoys most about her work is getting to know her scholars and understanding their abilities and needs so that she can figure out how best to help them succeed in their education.
She came to IDEA in 2022, with four years of teaching experience, including teaching elementary school students with autism and working as an applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapist.
Ms. Terrell has a Master of Education in special education from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, and a Bachelor of Science in rehabilitation services from the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore.
In dealing with the loss of her mother to breast cancer while she was in college, Ms. Terrell learned the importance of resilience. She worked to balance her emotional and mental health, her studies, and her social life in order to move forward toward her goals.
Ms. Terrell lives in Anne Arundel County and is originally from the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. She is the youngest of five in her family, with four older brothers. She loves traveling, listening to music, finding new eats, and spending time with her family.
Her favorite inspirational quote is "Success isn't about how much money you make; it's about the difference you make in people's lives." - Michelle Obama
