Meet Aysha Prince

Ms. Prince believes that growth is essential. She began her academic career by earning her high school diploma from George Wythe High School of the Performing Arts in Richmond, Virginia. She then attended Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice. After that, she earned a master's degree in Education and Human Development, with a specialization in Transition Special Education, from George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Ms. Prince’s career growth spurt occurred after completing graduate school and deciding to use her graduate and undergraduate degrees collectively to provide educational opportunities to those in correctional settings. She struggled with understanding the importance of self-care when it comes to both personal and professional growth. She learned to manage this struggle by setting aside time for self-care and mental health and extending the same grace to her students when needed. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Public Administration at American University with the goal of obtaining a leadership position in the field of education or justice services.

Her experience in corrections has shown her that anyone can change, and everyone deserves a second chance. She values time and relationships as the highest currency and loves spending time with her newborn daughter Daryl. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Ms. Prince’s favorite quote about growth is:

"We should not judge people by their peak of excellence; but by the distance they have traveled from the point where they started."
- Henry Ward Beecher
