Enrollment Requirements

Enrollment Requirements for School Year 2018-2019

All NEW students wishing at IDEA Public Charter School must apply to IDEA, visit, register, apply and make IDEA PCS your #1 choice! Note that the lottery application deadline for school year 2018-19 has passed. Any application submitted now is considered a post-lottery application.

Once your child has been accepted at IDEA (through MySchoolDC), you must submit the following documents in person to secure your child’s spot. The enrollment packet consists of the following documents. Please have all documents ready at the time of enrollment.

  • My School DC Seat Acceptance Form 
  • IDEA’s School Enrollment Form 
  • Home Language Survey 
  • DC Residency Verification Form | Proof of residency must be completed in person at the school. View the Residency Verification Guidelines.
  • Child’s full-sized original birth certificate
  • Government-issued identification of parent or legal guardian
  • Child’s final report cards from previous schools
  • Child’s transcript, if enrolling for 10th, 11th, or 12th grades
  • IEP or 504 plan, if applicable
  • Proof of legal guardianship, if applicable

The following documents are needed prior to the child’s first day of school in August:

  • DC Child Physical & Oral Health Certificates 

Additional Enrollment Requirements for Incoming Ninth Grade Students

Summer Bridge Program: This program is mandatory for all incoming ninth-grade students. The enrichment program is intended to help students make a smooth transition from middle school to high school both academically and socially. The program is June 25-July 27, 2018 (Students who sign up for SYEP should choose IDEA PCS as their employer.)
