Support IDEA Students Making Change in Our Community
With your help, IDEA Public Charter School will successfully prepare students to meet the growing occupational demands in the architecture and IT professions. Your support enables students to take on afterschool learn and serve projects or other enrichment classes that will strengthen their interest and self-confidence to excel in the core subjects such as English and math, effectively leading them to pursue professional careers successfully.
In the 2013-2014 school year, IDEA will enroll over 200 students from the Deanwood community, a neighborhood historically occupied by African-Americans since the end of the Civil War. Although the community struggles with high unemployment and economic challenges, IDEA is one of many organizations seeking solutions to reverse the surrounding economic conditions. IDEA students are encouraged to apply their technical skills in public service projects in the immediate community where they learn from the classroom.
How You Can Help
Sponsors are encouraged to visit a classroom or meet with our teachers to learn more about our vision. We look forward to sharing with you our successes going into 2014, and we are grateful for your support.
Sponsor the IDEA Public Charter School so that 10 struggling students may have access to afterschool tutors, Saturday classes or summer remediation: $10,000
Sponsor a Community Service Program that will enable 20 students to serve as interns or work in service-learning projects that will complement their technical skills: $5,000
Sponsor a Classroom that will be able to purchase architectural software licensing or exam certification expenses for 15 students: $2,500
Sponsor a Student with a hand tool set for a home refurbishing project: $100
