Dear Parents,

IDEA Public Charter School teachers and staff were happy to see the many parents who participated in Report Card Day to pick-up their child’s 1st Advisory Report Card on Wednesday, November 5, 2008.

Report Card Day will occur each Advisory and is designed to give parents additional time to talk to teachers about final grades that students earned, discuss the things that students must do to maintain good grades or to improve low or failing grades. After School tutoring is available in reading and math, supplemental educational services are available in reading and math and homework support is available in all subjects.

So much is reported in newspapers, magazines, and on the radio and television about the No Child Left Behind requirements that teachers, students, and schools must adhere. I am asking every parent to help us by supporting the tutoring process and encourage your child to use the many academic resources that IDEA has available for them. In addition to receiving good instruction, students must be willing to spend extra time studying and participate in one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions and respond to all the extra help available to them.

The IDEA staff congratulates all junior academy students and high school cadets who made the honor roll and principal’s honor roll in the 1st Advisory. All of you are amazing and we want you to continue doing your best. In the words of former New York Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, Aim High!
