URGENT MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPALDear Parents,
IDEA Public Charter School has been closed since Friday February 5, 2010 because of the blizzard snow conditions that have hit the Washington Metropolitan area. METRO bus and subway trains are running on limited service and neighborhood sidewalks are not safe for our students to walk. The streets near the school - 45th Street, Lee Street and 46th Street are covered with snow and ice. The Iron Gate that leads to the school’s parking lot is frozen and cannot open. Therefore, the parking lot cannot be cleared for teachers and staff to park their vehicles.
IDEA will open as soon as it is safe for our students, teachers and staff. However, please realize that students and staff will have to make up these missed days before the school year ends in June. As soon as I have more information, I will write a letter explaining the school’s plans and send you a revised calendar of events. Remember, it takes parents, students and the school working together on behalf of the students. As soon as I have more information, you will be the first to know.
Best Regards,
Charlotte Blount Lewis
Principal
