Meet Adrianna Cofield

Adrianna Cofield has worked with young people for more than a decade and has been a teacher at IDEA since 2017.

While working as a roving leader for the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation implementing teen programs aimed at reducing violence and developing self-esteem, Ms. Cofield developed a desire to improve DC youth's knowledge of their heritage. She also instituted a series of performing arts workshops that allowed the teens to write in a nontraditional manner, helping to strengthen both their writing and reading abilities.

Ms. Cofield has a Bachelor of Arts in dramatic arts and the African diaspora from St. Mary's College of Maryland and a Master of Fine Arts in film and production from Howard University, Washington, D.C. She graduated from Maya Angelou Public Charter High School in Washington, D.C.

The quote that inspires her is "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston Churchill
