Ten IDEA scholars honed both leadership and construction skills working with the Academy of Construction and Design this summer as part of the Summer Youth Employment Program. Michael Artemus, Karlton Carroll, Shamar Cromartie, Xavier Dericott, Kayla Fleming, Kyeon Ford, James Gant, Alisa Gibbs, Tyron Gross , and Makiya Johnson took on the roles of project managers, team leaders, and team members during the building of ACAD's Minim micro house. At the same time, scholars completed the NCCER Core Curriculum, a foundational course in construction safety and basic skills required throughout the industry. Scholars earned their NCCER core credentials as a result. Congratulations to our 10 young builders for their hard work and dedication this summer!
