Administrative Assistant
Job Purpose: Provides support to main offices as needed.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Support front office when necessary by answering, screening and transferring inbound phone calls
- Receive and direct parents and visitors
- General clerical duties including photocopying, fax and mailing
- Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system
- Retrieve information from Powerschool (training provided)
- Handle requests for information and data
- Resolve administrative problems and inquiries
- Prepare written responses to routine enquiries
- Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos and emails
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments and travel arrangements for managers or supervisors
- Prepare agendas for meetings and prepare schedules
- Record, compile, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings
- Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence
- Maintain office supply inventories
- Coordinate maintenance of office equipment
- Coordinate and maintain records for students
- Act as a floater between offices depending on the need
- Assist with data entry and reporting in Student Information Systems(SIS); data will include but not limited to demographics, daily attendance and call logs
Education and Experience

Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Position Description: The Director of Curriculum and Instruction is a school administrator that is responsible for the planning, delivery, assessment, and ongoing improvement of standards based curriculum and instruction programs. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction works directly to ensure that curriculum and instruction is aligned to Common Core State Standards and DCPS standards. Specific responsibilities of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction include, but are not limited to:
- Assume responsibility for student achievement and create that expectation for all school staff and faculty by leading a dynamic professional learning community that embraces accountability and outstanding student results
- Lead instructional staff on the use of data to drive student achievement and hold staff accountable for adjusting instruction for continuous improvement
- Ensure teachers understand and apply appropriate grade level/academic instruction, design and execute unit plans and performance assessments that provide for measurable outcomes
- Planning professional development and model exemplary lesson planning and delivery
- With the School Principal, evaluate teachers instruction and classroom management through formal and informal observations
- Manage curricular materials and textbook selection process used in educational programs in the school
- Support teachers with curriculum maps and alignment to the Common Core State Standards
- Identify professional development needs of staff and aid in the design and implementation of teacher development opportunities that incorporate the most current research and innovative teaching methods
- Collaborate with other key staff to integrate instructional technology throughout the curriculum
- Contribute to the development of essential school documents as relevant (i.e. School Accountability Plan and Middle States Accreditation)
- Contribute to the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of new teachers
- Create a plan for school-wide Common Core and PARCC transitions
- Other duties as needed
Position Qualifications Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- Experience in education including 3-5 years of teaching and a minimum of 2 years administrative or supervisory experience
- Master degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration or other related field required
- Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, increasing student achievement through the use of data-driven decision making, and administration and supervision
- Leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
- Ability to create systems to track relevant data
- Excellent writing, verbal communication, and organizational skills
- A positive attitude, enthusiasm, self-confidence, and flexibility
- Strong commitment to urban education

Science Teacher
Status The position of Science teacher is a full-time, salaried, ten-month position.
Job Summary
The Science teacher at IDEA is expected to offer rigorous instruction to students in Earth and Environmental Science. The Science teacher’s goals are to prepare students to succeed in college, the military, or a chosen career field after high school. In addition, science teachers should help equip our 9th and 12th graders with the social and work skills needed to be productive members of our society. Both Earth and Environmental science are lab science courses. Teachers typically support student youth development through effective classroom management, leadership of clubs or extracurricular activities, and informal mentoring.
Duties And Responsibilities
A science teacher at IDEA is responsible for
- creating curriculum for an Earth Science and Environmental Science
- assessing students
- modifying instruction in order to effectively address students’ academic needs,
- following all guidelines outlined in the Faculty & Staff Handbook and the Personnel Policy Manual
- other appropriate responsibilities as a professional staff member of IDEA.

Oversight & Evaluation

Job Summary
IDEA Public Charter School is currently seeking applicants for a school librarian. The candidate will manage the school’s library and media center. The position is open as of December 5, 2012.
